Strike coming up

Not a good idea to be ill right now - there will probably be less nurses available very soon. They are planning a strike as they're not satisfied with 12% higher salary as planned in the statebudget.

It is however a little bit tricky, as it's true that the nurses and doctor's don't have a high enough salary that they actually deserve. Their work is extremly important and should be more valued also in euros. But it is also quite clear that it's not possible to higher the vages with 25% as TEHY now demands. The government has already promised a 12% higher salary which is much more than the socialdemocratic governement ever managed to do during it's years in power! Times like this it is also very important to pay off the statedebt as now planned. According to countings from the ministeries we will get more than 100 M€ more in the next budget as less money will be spent on interest charges and can be spent on the welfare services instead!

Although, the naiv but interested part of me thinks it is very interesting to experience this strike. It was so many years ago since the last strike (mid 1990s) and at that time I was more interested in getting money for the scouts and vegetarian food at school, that I really can't remeber how it effected the society. And therefore I am curious on how the strike (or in fact; mass recignations) will develope...

btw Time for HIFK to tighten up the games! No more loosing... (3-1 Jokerit-HIFK) I hope to get some tickets to the next HIFK - Jokerit game. Have to go with my mother, who's a big fan of Jokerit :)
