Youth research in Georgia

Last spring we went to Tbilisi with a delegation of finns, to discuss youth empowerment and what we have acomplished in FInland. The participating Georgians were from all over the country, representing different political and student youth organisations. The seminar and trip was organized by Allianssi together with NCYOG, National Council for Youth Organizations of Georgia. The content of the seminar was in short very interesting discussions with both youth participants and representatives of the parliament and government. There is a report to check details.

But the important part of this was, that the Georgian participants all agreed upon, that there should be coordinated research on yout matters in Georgia. And with the results of the research poltiicans and organizations could develope youthpolitics in Georgia.

Not only were the discussions very intreseting and fruitful, but it also led to a prioritising of NCYOG projects. And I have just now found out that NCYOG have found funders and started a National youth reserach of Georgia, which will lead to a report on youth that will be published in december. I am very pleased to hear this and glad for the Georgian youth movement, to have taken a hughe step forward. Of course work with donors and funding will be a great deal of work also in the future, but I congratulate NCYOG and their chair Vacho Asanidze for the great results!
